Retreat Description

Retreats are a beautiful entry point into mindfulness, as well as a way to deepen a practice quickly. The skill and understanding developed on retreat complement what we’ve learned in a daily practice or a weekly course. This weekend retreat is designed for parents, educators and youth mental health professionals who want to support their mindfulness practice and might have a hard time getting away for longer retreats.

  • An opportunity to get a taste of the retreat experience
  • Friday evening through Sunday afternoon
  • Explore practice without the distractions of daily life
  • Silent periods of seated mindful awareness and
    mindful walking
  • An evening talk by your instructors
  • Morning question and answer period to clarify practice
  • Delicious food and a beautiful setting

Retreat Focus

  • The essentials of mindfulness practice:
    • concentration
    • sensory awareness
    • equanimity
    • self-care
  • Theory and methods tailored for those working in:
    • schools
    • mental health facilities
    • social service agencies
  • Establishing a “toolkit” for caregivers to navigate:
    • workplace stress
    • professional demands
    • personal life balance
    • relating personal practice to effective teaching

The Weekend Retreat satisfies the prerequisite for our Curriculum Training. Because children absorb so much from the behavior of adults, we believe that it is essential to learn mindfulness yourself before teaching it to youth. (Mindfulness Fundamentals also satisfies the prerequisite for our Curriculum Training.)

Your Instructors

CT-InstructorsOur instructors have over 40 years of combined mindfulness practice and over 30 years of teaching mindfulness and/or emotional intelligence to children and adolescents, as well as experience training many thousands of adults. Retreat Location

Retreats are held at the beautiful Institute of Noetic Sciences in Petaluma, just 45 minutes from San Francisco and the East Bay. It is a residential and includes three tasty meals per day.
