About This LIVE Workshop

In the midst of a global emergency, school leaders are recognizing the importance of social and emotional development more than ever before. This crisis has revealed even more clearly inequalities in our society and educational systems as well as ways that our systems are outdated and in need of transformation.

Mindfulness and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) have the potential to transform learning environments “from the inside out,” as well as to act as tools for systemic healing. Join us for a workshop and discussion on how educators can use mindfulness and SEL to cultivate wellbeing and transformation in their schools amidst the challenges posed by COVID-19.

In this experiential workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the science-based benefits of mindfulness practices for individuals.
  • Learn about adaptive cycles and how they relate to current changes in education.
  • Develop practices for inner-resilience during times of uncertainty.
  • Learn approaches to support student well-being within the limitations of social distancing and virtual learning.
  • Learn strategies to expand mindfulness practices into broader systems and educational settings.
  • Connect and share with other educators who are practicing mindfulness in a variety of school contexts.
  • Hear from experts and authors in the field of mindful education, via a discussion and Q&A with presenter Daniel Rechtschaffen and Mindful Schools Sr. Director of Program & Impact, Megan Sweet.
