As a mindfulness and yoga specialist, I work with students PreK-12th in public and private school settings. My experience includes working with students on the spectrum, students diagnosed with ADHD, and anxiety both in special ed schools and ICT classes. I teach both in classroom and mat based settings. I have worked one-on-one, with families and with large groups of 60+ children. I offer consultation and professional development for school staff.
Abigail Wilber is an educator of yoga and mindfulness for children and adults. Her passion is to empower children by giving them tools that support them during the challenges of life. She has many years of experience working with children in many different settings; in the classroom, in special need programs, summer camps, and private sessions.
She received her children’s yoga certification through Little Flower Yoga. She teaches mat based yoga, chair based yoga, and mindfulness classes, through The School Yoga Project in the NYC area. Abigail leads kids yoga and mindfulness teacher trainings, staff development workshops, and speaks at conferences nationwide for educators, social workers, health care providers, PTs, OTs, yoga teachers and parents for Little Flower Yoga. She wrote the curriculum for The School Yoga Project’s chair yoga and mindfulness program.
Abigail is also featured in GoNoodle’s Empower Tools videos. GoNoodle provides short interactive videos to increase movement and focus for children in educational settings. GoNoodle videos are an increasingly popular tool used in schools world-wide.
Abigail has had many teachers along the way who have inspired her and have influenced the way she teaches. She is a certified Mindful Schools instructor, and Empowerment workshop trainer and coach through the Empowerment Institute. She has led Empowerment workshops at Bard College, SUNY New Paltz, and at local yoga studios. She received her 200-hour certification from Shakti Yoga Studios. Abigail has studied with Leslie Kaminoff , an internationally recognized specialist in the fields of yoga and breath anatomy, and Amy Matthews, a Certified Laban Movement Analyst, yoga therapist and yoga teacher at the Breathing Project. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from SUNY New Paltz.
