Professional Development Workshops: Personal Peace (personal practice for educators), Calm Classroom (Mindfulness in the classroom using: Mindful listening, breathing, movement (yoga), mandalas, gratitude journals). I am a certified yoga teacher as well as a public school educator. I have a diverse background working as a graphic designer and yoga teacher for 25+ years as well as being a parent before entering education! I bring a different perspective to the classroom.
Jan enjoyed a career as a graphic designer for 25+ years. While this line of work was creative and fulfilling, Jan felt a need to be of service. Coming from a family of educators (both parents, an older brother and both children) Jan went back to school and earned her Teaching Certification. As a “new” teacher Jan soon realized she had to figure out a way to take care of herself if she were going to be able to show up fully for her students every day. She has been a yoga teacher for 15 years and while her yoga practice helped, it wasn’t doing everything she needed. In her first year of teaching she started a regular (mindful) meditation practice and noticed the ability to focus better as well as handle stress. She discovered Mindful Schools and completed the Mindfulness Fundamentals Course, Curriculum Training (now known as Mindfulness Educator Essentials), Year Long Certification program with Mindful Schools and is now a Certified Mindfulness teacher. She invites you to be open minded, an advocate for your own well-being and gentle with yourself as you begin any kind of self-care practice. We can change the world, one student at a time!
