Maria Usewick is based in New Jersey and incorporates her knowledge and experience as a licensed occupational therapist, for over 20 years, with her practice as a certified mindfulness teacher to provide wellness-based programs in the community. Maria works with children, teens, and adults experiencing difficulties with stress, general or performance anxiety, sleep problems, and resiliency. Maria initially studied mindfulness to help her manage symptoms of chronic back pain, subsequently, she discovered the many benefits of maintaining a personal mindfulness practice.
Maria became passionate and motivated to share these life skills both in and outside of her occupational therapy environment and therefore, she developed complimentary/integrative wellness programs for the community. These programs include: “Unplug” guided relaxation classes (providing Mindfulness Tips, as an introduction to Mindfulness); as well as, Mindfulness Workshops and Retreats for children, adults (parents/teachers), and athletes. Maria offers after school workshops for grades K-12, Teacher Decompress Express classes (to combat burn-out) and in-class mindfulness training.
Maria feels that mindfulness and occupational therapy blend and compliment each other perfectly allowing her to better address the needs of the “whole person”, mind and body!
