Mary Lea Crawley is the founder of Mindful Kids and started leading meditation circles, for children and adults, in 2009. A long-time educator, her background includes five years of college teaching and eight years of directing Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) programs for an Episcopal church.
Mary Lea teaches mindfulness to students, teachers and administrators in public and private schools in Northern New Jersey. Her community mindfulness programs – for children, teens and parents – are offered at the Madison Community House in downtown Madison, New Jersey.
As a licensed New Jersey teacher, Mary Lea has an M.A. in Writing and received mindfulness training in Still Quiet Place (with Amy Saltzman) and the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program, in addition to Mindful Schools. She develops mindfulness curriculum – with a focus on visual learning – which integrates tactile aids and picture handouts for each topic.
Mary Lea’s greatest teachers are her own two teens, who remind her to “stop resisting” and to “really listen.”
