Biography

Melinda Priddin has been working in the field of education and community welfare for the past 20 years and is currently working as a Social Worker across a mainstream and alternative school campus. Melinda provides training for community service workers in respectful relationships education through NAPCAN (National Association for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect) and coordinates and facilitates workshops for young people. Melinda has a special interest in working with adolescents and mental health and works both one to one as well as with small groups and class groups in the school setting. In recognition of her work with young people, Melinda has been awarded a Certificate of Commendation for Excellence in Crime Prevention by the Queensland Police Commissioner as well as the Paul Myatt Memorial Safer City Award (Community nominated). Melinda is currently implementing the Mindful Schools curriculum into the schools in which she works and coordinating an after school mindfulness program for primary school aged children. Melinda has an Honours Degree in Psychology and a Diploma in Teaching and is currently completing a Masters in Social Work.
