201 Live Intensive: FAQs
How is 201 Live Intensive different from the ‘standard’ 201?
The standard 201: Mindfulness in the Classroom is an 8-week facilitated online course. 201 Live Intensive includes the same content and same amount of total hours as the standard 201 course; however, in 201 Live Intensive, participants may complete the course in 2 weeks and benefit from 18 hours of live facilitation. Our program faculty support participants through live instruction, guided practice, and group sharing and reflection. Participants will complete some asynchronous coursework (readings, practices, and reflection assignments) to support their learning.
FAQs About the Live Intensive Format
What if I can only attend some of the live sessions? What if I can only attend part of each session?
If you are unable to attend all of the live sessions in full, we recommend instead signing up for the standard 201: Mindfulness in the Classroom course. We are offering two standard sessions of 201 this summer, beginning on June 22, 2023, and on July 27, 2023.
Will live sessions be recorded?
No. The live sessions will include guided practices, breakout groups, and practice teaching, in addition to presentation of content. Live attendance is a critical component of the program, and for this reason, we will not be recording the sessions.
Are makeup sessions offered for missed live sessions? What if I register and then my schedule changes?
Please review your calendar carefully before registering in 201 Live, as we do not offer makeup sessions, transfers, or refunds. If you know that you will miss sessions, please enroll in one of the standard sessions of 201. Refer to our policies.
FAQs About Requirements and Prerequisites
What is required to complete the course?
To complete the course and earn a Certificate of Completion, participants will be required to:
- Attend all six (6) live sessions
- Complete opening and closing surveys in the online classroom
- Complete four (4) assignments in the online classroom.
Online assignments and surveys must be completed and the Certificate of Completion must be printed by August 10, 2023.
This course is about teaching mindfulness to students, but I won’t be teaching students during the summer. Is that okay?
This course offers a unique experience to explore how to teach mindfully and teach mindfulness with the support of live facilitation from our course guides. Participants will explore the Mindful Schools K-12 Curriculum, ask questions, and get direct feedback about teaching and implementing. This course also includes the opportunity to practice teaching with other participants to prepare you for teaching the curriculum in the new school year.
I haven’t completed 101: Mindfulness Foundations yet. Am I able to sign up for this course?
Completion of 101 is a prerequisite for 201, so you will need to enroll in and complete the 101 course before 201 Live begins. 101: Mindfulness Foundations courses that start on April 6, May 4, and June 8, 2023 will fulfill this requirement.
I’ve already taken 201 but I want to do this one. Can I?
Yes, we encourage anyone who already took 201 and would like to take a deeper dive with live instruction to sign up. Given the richness and abundance of content in the 201 course, participants often find great benefit in having the opportunity to explore the course with additional facilitation and support.
