Amiee has almost 20 years of experience as a teacher and trainer across corporate, private, and traditional education sectors, and a deep commitment to mindfulness and wellness practices. She is a Bay Area native, a mom of two, and she currently lives in the East Bay and teaches in Oakland.
As a classroom teacher for the last fourteen years, Amiee has taught grades K-5, in both public and private schools in rural and urban settings, working with at-risk youth and their families as well as within more privileged communities. Throughout her teaching career, she’s devoted much of her time to curriculum and workshop development as well to leadership roles, including BTSA Coach, Site Mentor, and Level Leader for the Instructional Leadership Team. Over the past 6 years, due to her passion to improve well-being through mindfulness and self-care coaching, and at the behest of local schools, administrators, and private sector organizations, Amiee has conducted training for students, teachers, parents, and school staff, as well as for Seneca. In 2016, Amiee founded mudandskycollective, which offers workshops, retreats, guided practice, and coaching for the general public. In 2018, Amiee founded refuge, a group committed to helping middle schoolers develop sustainable mental health, wellness, and stress management strategies. She served as a Mentor for the Year-Long Teacher Certification Program at Mindful Schools.
