I specialize in providing mindfulness instruction to children in their families in in-home settings. I also integrate mindfulness practices as a core component in my after school and school based yoga programs. My expertise in working with youth from a variety of cultural backgrounds and diverse academic and social needs is brought into my individually designed classes.
Macy Lawrence Ratliff has been working as an educator with children and families for over 30 years. She began her career as a pediatric audiologist in the Edmonds School District where she co- created a coping skills curriculum for children with hearing loss. In addition she worked for many years as a parent infant specialist with families with children with newly diagnosed hearing loss. In addition she taught ESL learners in the Northshore School District where she emphasized mindfulness practices and yoga as tools for challenging learning situations. Eight years ago she started teaching mindfulness and yoga to youth in multiple settings from school based programs, after school programs, community centers and in home programs. She is a life long learner and her work as a researcher on a Parent Child Mindfulness grant at UNC led her back to the University of Washington where she is working on a Masters in Applied Child and Adolescent Psychology! On a personal level she has had a deep passion and love for contemplative practices, movement and nature and loves sharing these loves with her students! She loved the Year Long Certification Program offered through Mindful Schools and treasures any opportunity to share the incredible practices she learned with her students!
